BUSINESS FAQS

What is the process for opening a business account at the Credit Union?

First, your business must be approved for membership. This can done through automatic approval based on the physical address of the business, or by applying to become a Business Partner. To find out if you are approved based on address, you can contact either the Business Services Department or ask to speak with a Member Service Representative at any branch location. To apply to become a Business Partner, please complete the online request form found here. Once you have been approved through either of these methods, you can open a business account at any of our branch locations.

Once I have been approved, what documentation do I need to provide?

It depends on the type of entity that you operate as. Please contact either the Business Services Department or a Member Service Representative for a complete list specific to your company.

What information is required to apply for a business loan?

It depends on the type of loan that you are applying for, which can be determined by speaking with a staff member in the Business Services Department. However, for all business loans, you must provide the previous three years tax returns, a completed and signed personal financial statement, and a completed and signed loan application.

Do you offer business loans for start-up businesses and if so, what documentation is required?

Yes, we do. In addition to the other required documents, start-up businesses will need a formal business plan, and three years of financial projections.

If I am interested in starting my own business or buying an existing business, where should I begin?

We recommend that our members contact the Louisiana Small Business Development Center. They have offices throughout the state and specialize in assisting start-up and existing businesses to better prepare for applying for loans as well as maintaining a business. They offer many services including courses and panel discussions with local lenders. Their website is www.lsbdc.org.
